Elsie's agent confirmed that she passed away peacefully on 21st April 2026, surrounded by family.
Kellyโs portrayal of Noreen - the sweet, slightly naรฏve holidaymaker and mother to Johnny Vegasโs character, The Oracle - made her one of the showโs most recognisable and cherished faces. She appeared from the very first episode in 2007, returning across multiple series and even taking on the dual role of Noreenโs identical twin sister, Doreen, in later seasons.
A Career Spanning Decades
Born in Liverpool in 1936, Kelly built a rich and varied career across television, theatre, and film. Before Benidorm made her a household name, she was already familiar to audiences for her role as Mrs Tardebigge in Crossroads during the 1970s and 80s. Her credits also included appearances in Inside No. 9, The Famous Five, Harry & the Wrinklies, Skins, and Coronation Street.
Beyond acting, Kelly was a respected musical theatre director, leading the Birkenhead Operatic Society Trust for more than four decades until her retirement in 2019.
