The 74-year-old singer, best known for hits including Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero, is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, according to multiple reports.
Tyler had previously undergone emergency surgery after reportedly suffering a ruptured appendix and perforated intestine. Following the operation, doctors placed her into an induced coma to aid her recovery.
Portuguese outlet Correio da Manhรฃ claims the singer went into cardiac arrest as medical staff attempted to wake her from the coma, with doctors successfully resuscitating her before transferring her back into intensive care.
Reports also suggest Tyler is battling a serious infection, currently being treated with high doses of antibiotics. Friends close to the singer have reportedly said doctors remain โpositiveโ about her recovery.
A spokesperson for the singer confirmed last week that Tyler had been placed into an induced coma following emergency intestinal surgery in Portugal, where she owns a home.
Tyler rose to international fame in the 1970s and 1980s thanks to her distinctive raspy vocals and chart-topping anthems. In recent years, she has continued touring across Europe and remains one of Walesโ most recognisable music stars.
At the time of writing, no further official update has been issued by her management team regarding her current condition.
